Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥabīb

Ahīmu Waḥdī bi-Dhikri Rabbī

Ahīmu Waḥdī bi-Dhikri Rabbī (أهيم وحدي بذكر ربي), “I am Ecstatic, Alone, in the Remembrance of my Lord”, is a short Arabic poem from the Dīwān of the great 20th-century Moroccan gnostic Sidi Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥabīb. The poem expresses the intimacy of a seeker completely devoted to and reliant upon his Lord. Remembrance (dhikr) and love (ḥubb) of the Divine are the cure and the true source of contentment and joy, while love of anything other than God is always tinged with pain and grief.
