Folkvisa till Profeten is a contemporary Swedish folk song (folkvisa) dedicated to the Prophet ﷺ, written by poet and singer–songwriter Fazeela Selberg Zaib. Its lyrics recount a soul’s descent into darkness, its cry for divine help, and the healing and comfort that comes through love, trust, and the guiding presence of the Prophet ﷺ. The song was set to music and produced by Joey Belmondo.
Lyrics
Darkness fell over me, and over all that I gave, How long, God, must I sail on stormy seas?
One day, lightning struck me, and I capsized – in my washed-up heart Your names were carved.
Gud hörde mig och sände dig, å älskade Nabi, bakom livets kulisser var ni i helig maskopi. God heard me and sent you, oh beloved Nabi. Behind the scenes of my life, you worked together in sacred collusion.
...
You turned the taste of tears from bitter into sweet, and awakened life in a wounded heart that had long been dead.
My sorrows and my pain turned to relief in an instant, when you turned my heart toward you and held it for a moment.
You said, “Trust me—I want what is best for you, a promise that will never be broken. Take hold of the rope I left for you, and make sure it always stays tied.”
You said, “Love me, for I love you—a love without sorrow.” This truth I have witnessed, I shall proclaim everywhere!
