Noor Yusuf

The Days of God

Scotland moon

The moon above the Scottish Highlands. (Mick B)

The Days of God” is an English-language qasida written by the young British author and poet Noor Yusuf, as the opening poem to her mawlid composition, The Soliloquy of the Full Moon. The poem, sung to the tune of the traditional Scottish song “Auld Lang Syne”, is an expression of intense love for the Prophet ﷺ.

Lyrics

Ṣalli yaa Rabbi wa sallim
‘Alaa nabiyyinaa,
Ṣalli yaa Rabbi wa sallim
‘Alaa ḥabeebinaa!

– verse 1 –

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never thought upon;
The flames of love will be put out,
And faith be lost and gone!
