– verse 3 –
وَاجْمَعْ هُمُومَكَ فِيهِ
تُكْفَىٰ بِهِ عَنْ غَيْرِ اللهْ
Wajma‘ humoomaka feehi
tukfaa bihi ‘an ghayri Llaah
Gather your worries in Him,
and you will find Him sufficient, with no need for anyone but Allah.
– verse 4 –
وكُنْ عَبْدًا صِرْفًا لَهُ
تَكُنْ حُرًّا عَنْ غَيْرِ اللهْ
Wa kun ‘abdan ṣirfan lahu
takun ḥurran ‘an ghayri Llaah
Be a slave purely for Him,
and you will be free from all other than Allah.
– verse 5 –
وَاخْضَعْ لَهُ وَتَذَلَّلْ
تَفُزْ بِسِرٍّ مِنَ اللهْ
Wakhḍa‘ lahu wa tadhallal
tafuz bi-sirrin mina Llaah
Humble and lower yourself before Him,
and you will attain a secret from Allah.
– verse 6 –
وَاذْكُرْ بِجِدٍّ وَصِدْقٍ
بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عَبِيدِ اللهْ
Wadhkur bi-jiddin wa ṣidqin
bayna yaday ‘abeedi Llaah
Invoke Him with purpose and sincerity,
in the company of the slaves of Allah.
– verse 7 –
وَاكْتُمْ إِذَا تَجَلَّى لَكْ
بِأَنْوَارٍ مِنْ ذَاتِ اللهْ
Waktum idhaa tajallaa lak
bi-anwaarin min dhaati Llaah
Do not divulge if you are given direct experience
of spiritual illuminations from Allah Himself.
– verse 8 –
فَالْغَيْرُ عِنْدَنَا مُحَالْ
فَالْوُجُودُ الْحَقُّ لِلّٰهْ
Fal–ghayru ‘indanaa muḥaal
wal–wujoodul–ḥaqqu lillaah
We deem anything ‘other’ impossible,
since True Existence belongs to Allah alone.
– verse 9 –
وَوَهْمَكَ اقْطَعْ دَائِمًا
بِتَوْحِيدٍ صِرْفٍ لِلّٰهْ
Wa wahmaka qta‘ daa’iman
bi-tawḥeedin ṣirfin lillaah
Erase always your own conceptions of Him,
in favour of declaring the pure Oneness of Allah.
– verse 10 –
فَوَحْدَةُ الْفِعْلِ تَبْدُو
فِي أَوَّلِ الذِّكْرِ لِلّٰهْ
Fa waḥdatul–fi‘li tabdoo
fee awwalidh–dhikri lillaah
The Oneness of his actions becomes clear
in the early stages of the remembrance of Allah.
– verse 11 –
وَوَحْدَةُ الْوَصْفِ لَهُ
تَأْتِي مِنَ الْحُبِّ فِي اللهْ
Wa waḥdatul–waṣfi lahu
ta’tee minal–ḥubbi fillaah
Then [realisation of] the Oneness of His Attributes
comes about, once one has love for Allah.
– verse 12 –
وَوَحْدَةُ الذَّاتِ لَهُ
تُوَرِّثُ الْبَقَا بِاللهْ
Wa waḥdatudh–dhaati lahu
tuwarrithul–baqaa billaah
Finally, [realisation of] the Oneness of His Being
grants one the state of perpetual awareness of Allah.
– verse 13 –
فَهَنِيئًا لِمَنْ مَشَىٰ
فِي طَرِيقِ الذِّكْرِ لِلّٰهْ
Fa hanee’an li-man mashaa
fee ṭareeqidh–dhikri lillaah
So let him rejoice that travels
the path of remembering Allah
– verse 14 –
مُعْتَقِدًا شَيْخًا حَيًّا
يَكُونُ عَارِفًا بِاللهْ
Mu‘taqidan shaykhan ḥayyan
yakoonu ‘aarifan billaah
– Connected to a guide who is spiritually alive
and is a knower of Allah –
– verse 15 –
وَلَازَمَ الْحُبَّ لَهُ
وَبَاعَ نَفْسَهُ لِلّٰهْ
Wa laazamal–ḥubba lahu
wa baa‘a nafsahu lillaah
And who holds fast to love of Him,
and sells his self to Allah,
– verse 16 –
وَقَامَ فِي اللَّيْلِ يَتْلُو
كَلَامَهُ شَوْقًا لِلّٰهْ
Wa qaama fil–layli yatloo
kalaamahu shawqan lillaah
And who stands in prayer by night, reciting
His Word out of intense longing for Allah,
– verse 17 –
فَنَالَ مَا يَطْلُبُهُ
مِنْ قُوَّةِ الْعِلْمِ بِاللهْ
Fa naala maa yaṭlubuhu
min quwwatil–‘ilmi billaah
Thereby receiving that which he seeks:
unshakeable knowledge of Allah.
– verse 18 –
وَفَيْضُنَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ
سَيِّدُ مَخْلُوقَاتِ اللهْ
Wa fayḍunaa min nabiyyin
sayyidu makhlooqaati Llaah
Our grace comes by way of a Prophet;
he is the Master of all Allah’s creation.
– verse 19 –
عَلَيْهِ أَزْكَى صَلَاةٍ
عَدَدَ مَعْلُومَاتِ اللهْ
‘Alayhi azkaa ṣalaatin
‘adada ma‘loomaati Llaah
Upon him be the purest of blessings,
as infinite in number as the knowledge of Allah,
– verse 20 –
وآلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ
وَكُلِّ دَاعٍ إِلَى اللهْ
Wa aalihi wa ṣaḥbihi
wa kulli daa‘in ila Llaah
And upon his Family and Companions,
and everyone who invites to Allah.
